Two-year-old girl kidnapped, raped, left bleeding on roadside in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: On a day four men were convicted of the brutal gang-rape of a 23-year-old girl that horrified the nation, a two-year-old girl was hospitalized after being allegedly raped in Ludhiana, Punjab.

The toddler was assaulted and left bleeding by the roadside on Tuesday. She was spotted hours later by a man who alerted the police and took her to the hospital. She is said to be in a critical condition.

The police said the child was sleeping with her parents, both labourers, in the slums when she was kidnapped by her attackers. At 2 am, her father woke up and realized she was missing. He also alleged that the men stole Rs. 8,000.

Two people have been booked for the crime, which once again highlights that such assaults continue unabated despite the nationwide outrage after the Delhi gang-rape.
