London: P Kashyap bowed out of the London Olympics 2012 after a 19-21, 11-21 loss to Chong Wei Lee of Malaysia. The world number 2 and tournament seed 1, Lee, did what he is known for and was clinical in dispatching the Indian in straight games.
Kashyap started on a strong note and led for the initial part of the first game. The Malaysian, though, was not to be held down and fought back hard. The first game went neck to neck till the end and the top seed brought in all the experience and guile to edge out the Indian in the first game.
The Indian, who earlier became the first ever Indian male badminton player into the quarter-final of the Olympics, was never allowed to sneak in to the second game. Lee took the second game with immense ease to knock the Indian out of the Games.
Parupalli Kashyap exceeded all expectations and created history of some sorts at least. Many of the heralded prospects in the Indian Olympic contingent did not rise up to the expectations but Kashyap showed that he was all geared up for the Games. Losing out after putting up an impressive fight against the world number 2, will definitely bode well for the Indian.
