Six people including an Indian killed in road accident


Kathmandu, Six people including an Indian national have been killed and over 40 injured in a bus accident at Arunkhola Forest of Nawalparasi district along the East West highway. The bus heading for Mahendranagar, in the far West Nepal, from the national capital collided head-on with an Indian truck last night.

Four people died on the spot while two died while undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur Hospital, according to the police. Among those killed, two Nepalese passengers and one Indian national have been identified so far. The Indian national was Lalji Paswan, a resident of Motihari in Bihar. Among the injured, four are receiving medical attention at Old Medical College, seven at Madhya Bindu Hospital and 31 at Manakamana Medical Hall in Arukhola.

One of the deceased has been identified as bus driver Mahansingh Rawal of Baitadi. The identification of other deceased is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, three people were feared dead when a vehicle plunged into the river in Dhading district. Three persons including the driver had gone missing when a loaded truck plunged into the Trishuli River at Dhading-Jogimara road stretch along the Prithvi Highway in the west of Kathmandu today.
