Paramakudi, Ten persons, including a policeman were injured in two incidents of violence during the 55th death anniversary of Dalit leader Immanuvel Shekaran in the district. Five persons, including a policeman were injured in a clash between two groups at Mushtakurichi village, 22 km from Paramakudi, while in the second incident at Nedungulam, a former Panchayat President was among five injured as they were hacked by another group.
All the injured have been hospitalised. A strong police contingent has been posted in the area as a precuationary measure. Co-operative minister Sellur Raju, leaders of various political parties and Dalit leaders paid homage at the memorial of Shekharan here.
