Quake shakes southern Mexico
An earthquake shook parts of southern Mexico on Saturday, causing buildings to sway gently in the capital but causing no immediate reports of damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at 7.30 a.m. local time (6 p.m. IST) with a magnitude of 5.4. It was centred about 25 km north of Pinotepa Nacional, a city near the Pacific Coast, and about 340 km south-southeast of Mexico City.
Mexico’s national seismology service initially calculated the quake’s magnitude as 5.8 and said it was centred southwest of Pinotepa Nacional.
